Mat Athens BC
Hotel
The Athens hotel I booked this time had the best location (Plaka area).
Last time I stayed in Athens, I stayed at a hotel next to Syntagma Square. Transportation was convenient, but it was a bit noisy because it was near the square, and the price was very expensive.
This hotel is located near the entrance to the Acropolis. It is right next to the subway, so transportation is convenient, but the surrounding environment is very nice, so it is a recommended location.
The hotel was recently built, so it was a clean design hotel and a 5-star rating.
The biggest advantage of this hotel is the rooftop terrace.
At sunset, you can enjoy the night view of the Acropolis while drinking wine on the terrace.
– Schedule: ‘23.9.8-10.2 (3 nights)
– Price:
1.2 million won for a balcony double room for
3 nights (including breakfast for 2, refundable)
– Reservation: Agoda.com (www.agoda.com)
– Location: 3 minutes from Acropolis subway station, 5 minutes from Acropolis entrance
– Facilities and services: Sauna and health center available, Acropolis can be seen directly from the rooftop terrace
– Pros: Great location (3 minutes from Acropolis subway station, 5 minutes from Acropolis entrance, 3 minutes from Acropolis Museum.
– Disadvantages: There are no cons, but if I had to pick one, the breakfast was somewhat lacking to be considered a 5-star hotel.
Room
901 Double Room Balcony (Acropolis View)
There is a balcony, and the Acropolis and Parthenon can be seen directly from the room. (Acropolis view must be reserved when making a reservation)
Slippers and drinks are provided in advance in the lobby. (Slippers are very eco-friendly)
The room size is appropriate and it has a sofa so it is comfortable.
This hotel was made by Kagusa and features beds (there are no twin beds).
Although the bed is higher than expected, it is comfortable to sleep in.
bathroom
There is only a shower booth and no bathtub, and there are two sinks, which is convenient.
They give you 3 days worth of amenities in advance and, uniquely, you also get a toothbrush.
There is also a hair dryer and scale.
Gym and sauna: Basement 1
Operating hours: 09:00~19:00
I wasn’t able to visit the sauna facility because it was located in the massage room and you had to make a reservation in advance.
The gym is small in the corner, with each piece of equipment.
The underground space is decorated more beautifully than expected, so it’s worth a visit.
Swimming pool: Rooftop terrace
09:00 – 19:00 PM (Opens from May to September depending on weather conditions)
There is a small pool that can accommodate about 3 people (non-heated).
It was cold in early October so it was difficult to use it.
Others: Bicycle and airport pick-up/sending service
They also rent out bicycles, and the bikes have a very unique shape.
Overall, it is modern with an eco-friendly concept and is made of wood.
I wanted to ride it, but the road wasn’t suitable for biking, so I gave up.
rooftop terrace
Operating hours: 09:00-24:00
(April-October)
One of the great advantages of this hotel is the rooftop terrace.
There is a rooftop bar on this terrace, and if you make a reservation in advance, you can sit in a spot with a good view of the Acropolis and watch the sunset.
(If you are not staying in an Acropolis view room, the rooftop bar would be good)
A bottle of wine and fruit were provided for free at the rooftop bar, so I ate well and enjoyed the night view.
Breakfast: 1st floor
Operating hours: 06:00-11:00
Honey and fresh orange juice are delicious.
There are various breads, cheese, ham, eggs, Greek yogurt, etc.
There aren’t as many hot dishes as you might think, and there are a lot of dessert breads.
