Accommodations Loved by Travelers in Shinjuku Washington Hotel 2023

Review of Shinjuku Washington Hotel

I recently stayed at the Shinjuku Washington Hotel in Tokyo. The hotel, located in the Shinjuku area, is around a 15-minute walk from the nearest train station. I booked a Triple Room through Agoda for a total of 462,000 KRW (approximately $398 USD) for a two-night stay.

Upon arrival, I was a bit disappointed with the room. Despite expecting three single beds, the room I was assigned had beds arranged differently. It was a corner room with multiple mini windows, which allowed for a nice breeze. However, the bathroom turned out to be smaller than I anticipated, which came as a surprise.

On a positive note, the room had a sofa and a refrigerator located next to the bathroom. During check-in, the hotel provided four complimentary bottles of water as part of a special event. The hotel offers breakfast, but be aware that there might be a waiting time on weekends, especially around 8:00 AM.

I had read reviews mentioning dust on the towels, and unfortunately, I experienced the same issue. I recommend giving the towels a good shake before using them. Overall, my stay at the Shinjuku Washington Hotel was satisfactory.

Surrounded by a tranquil forest, this Shinto shrine is dedicated to Emperor Meiji and Empress Shoken. Take a leisurely stroll through the serene grounds, and if you’re lucky, you might even witness a traditional wedding ceremony.

Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden is another must-visit attraction near the hotel. This expansive garden combines Japanese, French, and English landscaping styles, offering a picturesque escape from the bustling city. Take a relaxing walk amongst the cherry blossoms in spring or admire the vibrant fall foliage during autumn.

Just a short distance from the hotel, you’ll find the famous department stores like Isetan and Takashimaya, where you can indulge in luxury brands and local designer boutiques. Additionally, the bustling streets of Shinjuku are home to numerous electronics stores, fashion retailers, and unique shops catering to all tastes.

Food lovers will appreciate the diverse culinary experiences that await them in this area. Don’t miss the chance to explore Omoide Yokocho, also known as “Memory Lane” or “Piss Alley.” This narrow alleyway is packed with tiny, lively restaurants serving delicious yakitori and other traditional Japanese dishes. It’s a great spot to try out local street food and immerse yourself in the vibrant atmosphere of Tokyo’s nightlife.

If you’re up for some entertainment, the Kabukicho district is just a stone’s throw away. Known as Tokyo’s red-light district, Kabukicho is home to a plethora of entertainment options, including karaoke bars, jazz clubs, and themed cafes. Experience the lively energy of the city as you wander through the neon-lit streets and soak up the vibrant nightlife.

For panoramic views of Tokyo, a visit to the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building is a must. With its observation deck on the 45th floor, you can enjoy breathtaking views of the city skyline, including iconic landmarks like Tokyo Tower and Mount Fuji on clear days. Best of all, admission to the observation deck is free.
