I made the reservation on Jalan Net. Breakfast is not included. The surrounding area is mainly residential, with many amenities such as Ion Mall, supermarkets, and drug stores.
Overall Satisfaction: This was my second or third time staying here. The main reason I chose Hathon Hotel is because of its proximity to Ion Mall. Initially, I stayed at a different hotel nearby, but it felt a bit far from Shinagawa Side. The only downside is that the transportation cost to Shinagawa Side Station is quite expensive. However, it is convenient to reach Shibuya and Shinjuku in one go. Going to Tokyo Station or Asakusa might be a bit cumbersome, but since I rarely go in that direction, it wasn’t much of an issue for this trip.
The most significant drawback is the high transportation cost, with JR being the cheapest option followed by the metro. The basic fare here starts at around 300 JPY and can go up to 400 JPY with just a short distance. However, the hotel rates are relatively affordable.
Apart from the hotel, there are several supermarkets in the area, but this time I only visited Ion Mall. Comparing prices became difficult, but I really liked Ion Mall since it offers direct access to Haneda Airport via limousine bus (takes about 30 minutes). When I couldn’t take the limousine, there is a station within a 15-minute walk, which is also convenient. Odaiba is also easily accessible. If Narita or Tokyo Station is your main destinations, I wouldn’t recommend staying here.
The room condition was good and clean. Sometimes there are unnoticed places that suddenly catch your attention and become visible, like corners you would see when sitting in the bathtub or areas around the toilet or under the sink. However, as long as you don’t look directly at them, it’s not a big issue.
I didn’t try the breakfast since I usually don’t have breakfast at hotels in Japan.
As for drug stores, there is one in Ion Mall called Matsumoto Kiyoshi. The prices there are a bit expensive, so I didn’t bother comparing. I bought digestive medicine and patches from there and bought other items duty-free from elsewhere. The hotel didn’t sell foot bath products, so I purchased what I needed for that day and bought the rest duty-free from another store.
There are many local restaurants in the area, but I personally don’t often go to local eateries. I tried buying a bento (boxed lunch) once when I stayed at a different hotel before.
