If you arrive early, you can directly access the hotel by taking the mountain train to Owakudani and then the Ubako Ropeway. However, if you arrive after 4 PM, the ropeway will be closed, and you will need to take a 40-minute bus ride from Hakone Station. The bus stop is located at the 1st bus stop at Hakone Station, J Koziri/Hakonewan, and you can walk around 5 minutes after getting off at Ubako Bus Stop.
For those who are not comfortable with communal bathhouses, this hotel is recommended.
The best feature of this hotel is that you can see Mt. Fuji on clear days from the large communal bath, including the outdoor bath for both men and women.
The area where you get off the bus is close to the hotel, and there are streetlights, which reminded me of Totoro.
Although there were a few eerie moments, the atmosphere felt safe.
It seems that this couple got off at the wrong place, and they ended up wandering in the mountains until midnight until they arrived at the hotel after 12 hours.
