This is a review of Budapest Novotel Danube vs InterContinental.

hello.

I am leaving a hotel review after visiting Budapest at the end of last year.

In this post, I left an inquiry about Novotel and InterContinental, and as many of you will, I had great concerns about these two hotels.
I would like to share the subjective pros and cons of staying at both Novotel and Intercon hotels (both have river views).

Novotel
Pros: The night view of the National Assembly building was crazy.
Disadvantage: It’s a bit far from the city center, so the neighborhood is quiet… The hotel’s condition is not very good.

intercontinental
Pros: Tourist hub, breakfast included, hotel response, service, and condition are much better
Cons: The view of the Royal Palace is fantastic, but because the Sechen Bridge is under construction, it is relatively inferior to the view of the National Assembly Building.

Anyone who has done a little research will probably know the pros and cons above.
So everyone is probably worried…

First of all, I recommend Novotel.
This is because, in my subjective opinion, Novotel was better in terms of the night view, which was the biggest attraction of a trip to Budapest.
Even if it is not a river view, you can see a fantastic night view just by going right in front of the hotel.
In addition, Fisherman’s Fortress, a night view point, is close by, about a 15-minute walk.
It is a gentle climb up the hill.

And as of the time I went (late 2022), the Sechen Bridge was not illuminated as only public vehicles were allowed, so the night view from the palace side was a bit weak.
Of course, it was still good, but the night view from the National Assembly building was definitely better.
(In general, I heard that setting fires is not as good as before because of the power shortage..ㅜ)

And the Novotel area is a bit quiet and remote, so it’s boring and far from the tourist center, but there’s a subway station right near the hotel, so it’s easy to get around.
You can get to the National Assembly Building and Deak Square in 1-2 subway stops.
I was accompanied by my mother-in-law, so I took a Bolt taxi from across the river to the hotel, and it cost about 10,000 won, and when I went to the airport from Novotel, I think it cost about 40,000 won.

Of course, on the other hand, you can stay at an intercontinental accommodation and take the subway across the river to see the view of the National Assembly building… (Conversely, you can also take the subway from Novotel and see Buda Castle from the other side, so it’s really a matter of choice.) If you focus on the night view, I think Novotel has a little more merit.
So, if you are going to stay at Novotel, I definitely recommend getting the river view room.
My mother-in-law didn’t go out, so she just stayed inside and enjoyed the night view.

The condition of the Novotel hotel and the response of the hotel staff were not this bad, nor were they really good.

Of course, this is my personal opinion, so I recommend Novotel, but Intercon is not bad either.
I think I’ll have second thoughts if I go again. The hotel staff was very polite and the breakfast was good. There’s a tram right in front. Haha.

as a result

– If your itinerary is a bit short and your goal is to focus on the night view, I recommend Novotel.
– If you have enough time in your schedule and still want to feel the hustle and bustle of a tourist attraction, we recommend Intercon.
– Intercon is recommended for those who are sensitive to hotel conditions.
– Overall, I recommend Novotel

Please note that both hotels do not provide toothpaste as standard.
I went to the supermarket and bought one…ㅡㅡ;;ㅎ There was a 24-hour convenience store about a 10-15 minute walk from Novotel.
I think I walked to the intercon market for about 10 minutes.

Lastly, I am attaching some photos of Buda that I took during my visit… Have a nice trip everyone…
